The holiday season has officially arrived with December upon us. It is often packed with excitement, anticipation, tasty treats, fun holiday parties, family gatherings and work functions. While this time of year can be full of indulgences, it is important that we support those who are choosing not to drink this season. One way we can do this is by providing festive mocktails. Mocktails are a great way to help people feel fun and fancy and participate in the festivities without feeling pressure to drink.
Throughout the month of December, we will be ringing in the holiday season with our annual #12DaysofMocktails campaign to raise awareness of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). From December 13th to 24th we’ll be releasing a new mocktail recipe every day. So, be sure to stay up to date with our Facebook, twitter, and LinkedIn pages throughout the month to ensure you don’t miss any of the tasty mocktail recipes we will be sharing!
There is no safe time, safe amount, or safe type of alcohol to consume during pregnancy. The safest option is not to drink alcohol at all during pregnancy but stopping or reducing alcohol consumption can be challenging for some. It’s important to remember that we all play a role in supporting healthy pregnancies.
Here are a few ways in which you can help support healthy pregnancies this holiday season:
- Go alcohol-free with your pregnant friend, partner, or family member
- Be sure to include alcohol-free options at events to support those choosing not to drink
- Give a gift or tasty treat that is alcohol-free
- Organize completely alcohol-free events (virtual or otherwise)
Cheers to a safe and happy holiday season, from everyone at CanFASD!
