A partnership between Peak Support Services and the Lethbridge Police Service, the program offers advocacy, mentorship, case planning, court support, education, and system navigation to promote FASD-informed justice outcomes.

PROGRAM INFORMATION

The FASD Justice Program supports youth and adults with, or suspected of having, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) who are involved in the justice system. A partnership between Peak Support Services and the Lethbridge Police Service, the program offers advocacy, mentorship, case planning, court support, education, and system navigation to promote FASD-informed justice outcomes.

Youth & Adult Services

The FASD Justice Program provides integrated support to both youth and adults with, or possibly with, FASD as they navigate the justice system. The program works to influence meaningful, individualized outcomes while increasing understanding of FASD within legal and community systems.

Key services include:

  • Court Support and Advocacy
  • Mentorship and Case Planning
  • Diversion and Early Intervention
  • Community and System Navigation.
  • FASD Awareness and Training
  • Communication with police, lawyers, legal services, other agencies, partners, and courts.

Fund Management Program

The Peak Fund Management Program supports individuals with or possibly with FASD in managing their income to promote personal stability. Services include:

  • Budget planning and savings strategies
  • Third-party payments for rent and bills
  • Assistance with basic financial decisions
  • Advocacy with AISH and other agencies
  • Tax filing and banking support

In Reach Transition Mentorship Program

The In Reach Transition Mentorship Program assists individuals with or possibly with FASD who are incarcerated at the Lethbridge Correctional Centre and transitioning to the community. Supports include:

  • FASD training for correctional staff and educational sessions for inmates.
  • Development of FASD-informed release and reintegration plans.
  • Post-release mentorship and referrals for support services.
  • Support with government applications and accessing benefits.
  • Connection to housing, employment, and community resources.
  • Continued transitional mentorship until long-term supports are in place.
