Last call to participate in our study on strengths!

Our research study on strengths in adults with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) is closing at the end of June. There are just over two weeks left for you to participate in this study!

About the study

People with FASD have many strengths and abilities. When we understand these strengths and successes, we can leverage them to support health and wellbeing. Last year, Drs. Katy Flannigan and Jacquie Pei, and the AFECT Committee at CanFASD came together to create a research project on Strengths in Adults with FASD to learn more about their strengths.

Who can participate?

Adults with FASD can share their experiences as part of this study. Anyone with FASD (18 years or older) from anywhere in the world can take part in this project. If you think you have FASD but have not been diagnosed, you can still participate.

How can you participate?

There are different ways you can be in this study. You can pick how you want to participate. You can share your ideas in a survey, share your ideas through art, or you can do both.

If you pick the survey, you will answer questions on the computer. The survey will take about 1 hour to do. You will be asked about how you see yourself, what you’re good at, and how you feel about your life. If you want to share your ideas using art, you can send us photos, videos, drawings, paintings, or any kind of art you choose. You will send us a picture or video of the artwork and tell us what it means to you.

If you don’t have a computer but still want to do the study, you can ask for help from a support person or email Katy Flannigan at katy.flannigan@canfasd.ca. Someone from the research team can ask you the questions over the phone. Click here to learn more about the project and fill out the survey.

Thank you for your support

A big thank you to everyone who has already participated in the study! If you are a caregiver, support person, FASD service provider, or know of anyone who would be interested in sharing their strengths with us, please pass this information along!
